Alto de Letras Challenge

Arrive in Bogota and meet our team at the airport or your hotel. We’ll help you get settled, then spend a bit of time setting up your bike so everything is just perfect for the week. After checking in, relax, and ease into Bogota with a stroll around Parque de la 93 and Zona T—two of the city’s best areas for shopping, cafés, and excellent restaurants.

Cyclists: Early departure from Bogota for your first ride: Alto de La Tribuna to Cambao. It’s a beautiful intro day—steady, manageable effort, and a great way to settle into Colombia’s terrain and scenery.

All travelers: Optional visit to the Armero Tragedy Site, where you’ll learn the story of the 1985 Nevado del Ruiz disaster and see the memorials that honor the lives lost—an impactful, reflective experience. Learn more about the Armero Tragedy.

Cyclists: Today is what you came for: conquer Alto de Letras. You’ll take on one of cycling’s most legendary climbs and a true rite of passage for cyclists, gaining altitude through changing landscapes and climates all the way into the high Andes.

Companions: Guided cultural tours in Honda and Mariquita. Walk through historic districts, learn why these towns mattered in Colombia’s colonial and republican eras. Cyclists: Easy recovery ride to loosen the legs after Letras and enjoy a relaxed morning on the bike.

Cyclists: Alto El Sifon is less known globally, but just as demanding—and incredibly rewarding. Expect a big climbing day with dramatic mountain scenery, world-heritage towns nearby, and unique high-altitude ecosystems along the route. From our experience, this climb is even more rewarding than Alto de Letras.
